Balance Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
Balance is a personal finance app developed by Jonathan Salazar. This policy explains what information the app uses and how.
1. Your financial data stays on your phone
The accounts, transactions, debts, cards, budgets, goals and other information you enter are stored only on your device. Balance has no servers of its own, does not require an account, and the developer does not receive and cannot see that information.
Balance never asks for card numbers, expiry dates, security codes or banking credentials.
2. Notification access (optional)
If you turn on payment detection, Balance reads the notifications on your phone to recognize those that look like payments or income (for example, from digital wallets or banking apps) and suggest recording them. This analysis happens on your device. Notification content is not sent to the developer or to third parties. You can turn this access off at any time in your phone's settings.
Notifications from financial apps that could not be understood are stored locally so you can review them. They only leave your phone if you choose to share them.
3. Reminders
If you allow it, Balance shows notifications to remind you of payment dates. They are generated on your device.
4. Backups
You can export your data to a file. That file is saved where you choose and stays under your control. Balance does not upload it anywhere.
5. Exchange rate
To keep the dollar exchange rate up to date, the app requests public data from the Central Bank of Costa Rica. No personal or financial information of yours is sent in that request.
6. Advertising
Balance shows ads through Google AdMob. To do so, Google may collect and use data such as the device's advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interaction data, in order to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where the law allows. The financial data you enter in the app is not shared with Google.
In regions where the law requires it, the app will ask for your consent before showing personalized ads, and you can change your choice from Settings.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
7. Children
Balance is not directed at children under 13.
8. Deleting your data
Since everything is stored on your device, you can delete your data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this same page with its update date.
